Johnny Depp has been attached to Disney’s adaptation of Kolchak: The Night Stalker since last year, and now Edgar “I Should Be Too Cool For This” Wright has been signed to direct the film. No writer has been attached, as of yet, but Wright will “oversee and shape the project with Depp and [producer Christi] Dembrowski,” so it’s safe to say the script will have some of that Edgar Wright-yness that makes his work so awesome. Except for Scott Pilgrim. That movie can eat a barrel of butts dropping off of a cliff into the Land of Go F**k Yourself. Wright’s Night Stalker film will also keep a maximum of a PG-13 rating, keeping in line with Disney’s family-friendly image.
I don’t care about a Kolchak movie in the slightest, so I guess I’m just unhappy that Edgar Wright has yet another directing project on his plate that isn’t him releasing The World’s End by the end of this year. And I want my damn Joe Cornish-co-written Ant-Man movie, dammit.
