I was one of the few people who wasn’t blown away by Emma Watson’s performance in Perks of Being a Wallflower. However, I didn’t hate her and the movie was great so I’m going to chalk it up as good news that she is once again working with director Stephen Chbosky on his next project While We’re Young.
The film is an adaption of the book 29, and isn’t by Chbosky, but now that he’s directed his own work I guess he wants to branch out to others. The story is one of those “young again” things where an older woman connects more with her granddaughter than her daughter and wishes to be 29 again. Then her wish is granted. Sound a little cliche, but Chbosky turned cliche coming of age into something special so hopefully he can do it again. I’m all for more movies that take tired scenarios and actually do something interesting with them because, well, interesting things are awesome.
