Several of the Tributes from the other districts have been chosen. Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott will be playing the District 3 Tributes. District 1 residents Glimmer and Marvel will be played by Leven Rambin and Jack Quaid respectively. Katniss’ family has also been cast, with Paula Malcomson as her disturbed mother and Willow Shields as her little sister, Prim.
Kristen Bell revealed that she is a Hunger Games fanatic, and is interested in the role of Johanna Mason in future movies. While Johanna is not present in the first book, she is a very major character in the other two. I’m not a fan of Bell, but I’d like to see her as Johanna, particularly in the third movie.
On a disappointing note, while there were rumors about John C. Reilly accepting the role of Haymitch Abernathy, the drunken District 12 mentor and survivor of one of the previous Games, it was revealed that Reilly has not been offered the role. This doesn’t mean it’s completely off the table, of course, but once I started thinking of Reilly as Haymitch, it was hard to think of anyone else that would fit the role so well. Hopefully all the buzz will get him interested.
