Furious 7 crossed a billion dollars worldwide in seventeen days, so when Vin Diesel took to the CinemaCon-stage in Los Angeles to announce the next movie in the franchise, not a single person in the entire universe was surprised.
Everybody liked Furious 7. We liked Furious 7, as evident in Matt’s review. So, if Vin Diesel is to be believed, the next movie – which we don’t have an official title for yet – will be even better. As he announced the release date to be April 14, 2017, he also stated that it’ll be “the best movie you’ve ever seen”. Keep in mind, he also said Furious 7 should win an Academy Award, but we’ll see whether or not that actually happens soon enough.
There’s no director attached to the project, and no official confirmation about which of the cast members we’ll see back behind the wheel, but speculation says the whole family – sans the late Paul Walker – will return, with Kurt Russell by their side. However, 2017 is far from tomorrow, so we’ll just keep our eyes open for more news as the months pass us by.
