It’s nearly time for Netflix to unveil Age of Resistance, their labor-of-love follow up to Jim Henson’s landmark 1982 film. A prequel series to The Dark Crystal, the new trailer further illustrates just how darn gorgeous the whole production looks, from the fluidity of the puppets to their intricate details, and the digital effects layered on top. It’s all looking very sharp.
The prequel features the voices of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel in the lead roles as three Gelflings at the core of the rebellion poised against the Skeksis. The supporting cast features a wealth of top talent, including (but not limited to!) Eddie Izzard, Helena Bonham Carter, Mark Strong, Simon Pegg, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, Mark Hamill, and Sigourney Weaver.
Just what vibrant shade of evil the Skeksis are up to is still to be determined, though we won’t have to wait too much longer. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set to premiere in full on Netflix on August 30, 2019.
