I’ve recently started watching anime and the like (I’ve always been more inclined to manga comics because it takes up less of my time), because One Piece is neat and I wanted to branch out into other titles. Titles such as Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin, which has since been adapted into a pretty great film. Now the film is getting two sequels based on the manga’s Kyoto arc (which means Kenshin Himura battles it out with the “Ten Swords” and the bandaged badass Shishio) and we finally have our first look at them with this batch of images.
Notably Shishio is played by the Battle Royale kid (Shuya), Tatsuya Fuijwara (although there’s no way you’d recognize him), and that image of the Ten Swords is fantastic. I can’t wait to see the adapted versions whenever they get a short domestic release. For now the two sequels, Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire and Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend will slash into Japanese theaters August 1st and September 13 respectively.
