Like everyone else, I’ve been looking forward to Genndy Tartakovsky’s Hotel Transylvania because I miss the heck out of his genius (why was Sym-Bionic Titan cancelled?!?). This new clip gives a little something beyond what’s been given in the previous trailers for the film. Apparently, there seems to be some sort of tension between Dracula (Adam Sandler) and his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez).
Mavis seems to be acting like the typical teenager (rebellious and vaguely aware of her caring home) who wants to leave the nest and Dracula responds to it in a not so typical fashion. So watch the clip and know that this scene is probably the deepest exploration of their relationship (since kid flicks don’t exactly like darker themes). Then again, Tartakovsky is a freakin’ genius whose Dexter’s Laboratory lampooned the likes of Star Trek, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and Speed Racer while remaining light enough for children. I guess we’ll see how it turns out when Hotel Transylvania releases September 28th. Holy rabies! Holy rabies! Holy rabies!
