By Remember when that weird image of an overly tattooed Jared Leto Joker went out and everyone went insane because it just looked stupid? We all calmed down when they told us it wasn’t how he was going to look in the film, and then the first trailer landed and it seemed OK. Well, maybe that worry was justified. Empire has the first full look at the Joker’s outfit in Suicide Squad and it is garish, but not in the good way. Also, are those pajama pants?
OK, so those are Arkham Asylum pants, which might be a nice touch, but I’m just not feeling this. Everything is so on the nose here. He’s a psychopath so he dresses like a punk from the Michael Keaton Batman films. I’ll be the first to admit that I was critical of Heath Ledger before Dark Knight so I’m ready to be totally wrong here, but Suicide Squad just confuses me as a whole in terms of tone and plotting, especially within the context of the already chopped up DC cinematic universe.
I suppose that means it’s one of the more interesting superhero films to be coming along so that’s a good thing. By the way, this is from a limited edition version of Empire so there’s bound to be some more of the rest of the characters coming out.
