First images from Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Prodigious Spivet

I really loved Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s and Marc Caro’s films in high school and college, wearing down my VHS copies of Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children, and watching Amelie pretty regularly on fancy, new-fangled DVD. I still hope for a Jeunet/Caro reunion, but at least Jeunet’s got a new film coming out.

Jeunet’s latest is called The Young & Prodigious Spivet, an adaptation of The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen. According to The Playlist, “the story follows a young amateur cartographer, the titular Spivet, who travels cross-country on a freight train to visit the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.” Whimsy will surely ensue… in 3D. The film stars Kyle Catlett, Helena Bonham-Carter, Judy Davis, Kathy Bates, Callum Keith Rennie, and the awesome Dominique Pinon.

Check out the first images from The Young & Prodigious Spivet in the gallery. The film will be out in France on October 16th. No word yet on international release dates.
