So, if you haven’t already checked out the trailer for AVH&K3DC, please do that first, then come back here… Go on, I’ll wait… Back? Good. Actually, I haven’t seen it yet, either. I should probably get to that… But anyway, in the continuity of the series, it’s been six years since the events of Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay (though it has been three years in real-time). Harold and Kumar have gone off to live their respective lives, happily, and, perhaps more notably, without one another. This movie sees the pair reunited for some yule-tide j-smokin’ hijinks to have, arguably, the most epic journey yet. The story is as follows:
After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas
Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
Seems like a winner, but then the appeal of Harold & Kumar has never truly been about the plot. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas stars John Cho and Kal Penn as the titular heroes. Guest stars include Patton Oswalt, Danny Trejo and Neil Patrick Harris, among others. The writers of the first two Harold & Kumar films, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, are back to write again while directing duties are left to Todd Strauss-Schulson. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (man that’s a mouthful) hits theaters November 4.
