As we quickly approach the fall release of Spectre, hype for James Bond’s 24th outing is fast reaching a fever pitch. 2012’s Skyfall righted the ship after the disappointing 2008 outing Quantum of Solace, and fans have been wondering what kind of trouble Daniel Craig’s 007 would get up to next.
Slowly but surely we’re starting to get a picture of what that newest adventure might look like. Following our first look at the man himself two weeks ago, new production images have been released today, including our first look at noted pro-wrestler and living, breathing mountain of muscle Dave Bautista as refined henchman Mr. Hinx. Finally free of the body paint that must have been the only thing keeping him warm on the Guardians of the Galaxy set, here Bautista sports an adorable goatee and a stylish jacket, pointing a gun at some poor schmuck who appears a bit too bald to be Bond himself.
Speaking with Empire, Bautista talked a bit about what makes Mr. Hinx tick:
When I came over to meet Sam [Mendes], I only asked two questions … I asked him if Mr. Hinx was a badass. He said, ‘Yes, he’s a badass.’ I said, ‘Well, is Mr. Hinx intelligent?’ He said, ‘Very.’ That’s what I like about Mr. Hinx. He’s very well-dressed and very well-mannered. I’m not just here to fight people. He has a sense of humour. He definitely knows what a metaphor is.
Bautista will square off against Craig this fall – Spectre hits theaters Oct. 23 in the UK and Nov. 6 in the United States. Directed by Sam Mendes, the plot of Spectre remains shrouded in mystery, but the title suggests that Bond will go up against the iconic terrorist organization from the Sean Connery days. Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Monica Belluci also star.
