First look at Edgar Wright’s The World’s End

With the stupid Mayan apocalypse upon us, it seems fitting that we should share the first official still from Edgar Wright’s The World’s End, the third and final part of the Cornetto trilogy. (You may recall the teaser poster for The World’s End back in October.)

The film stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddie Marsan as friends going on an epic pub crawl. Pegg tweeted the official image to commemorate the end of principal photography. Here’s a synopsis for the film:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

If the release date holds, The World’s End will be out on August 14th in the UK (aka Toltec doomsday) and on October 25th in the US (aka Aztec Hanukkah). Check out the full still in the gallery.
