By Pixels is a strange beast. I’m not sure I should be excited for it or worried about it. In the plus column it is about defending the earth from aliens who have mistakenly assumed our old school videogames are declarations of war. That sounds like a pretty cool idea and these tow posters do look pretty awesome. It’s also directed by Christopher Columbus, who is at least capable of handling both comedy and action, if not stellar at it.
On the negative side it’s starrring Adam Sandler and will feature Kevin James. The combined force of these two in one movie can ruin any good will I have towards it. The supporting cast of Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, and Josh Gad Read is nice, but not enough to pull me out of my deep Sandler/James fear. I am ready for disappointment, despite these nifty posters, when the film releases on July 24, 2015.
