About a month ago, a sequel to the found footage awesomeness that is V/H/S was announced, and there were some really interesting names attached to the project. And by names I mean name, and that name is Gareth Evans. Evans is best known as the director of The Raid: Redemption (which I recently rewatched, and it’s even better the second time), which may seem a bit strange for a horror compilation, but his first film, Footsteps, features some pretty horror-ish sounding elements. Also, Singaporean directior Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre) will be co-directing his segment, so that will help.
Either way, this first image seems to confirm my initial belief/hope that Evans’s segment would be a found footage martial arts sort of thing. It looks more POV than found footage, but the first film played with different filming styles, and I’d rather have that anyhow. That would be pretty awesome, wouldn’t it?
Also, it’s called S-VHS (doesn’t seem to have the slashes), which is interesting. I wish it was called Betamax or something, though. Wouldn’t that be a great name for a prequel?
Wow… that was a really bad joke.
