By Sometimes I feel like a cynical jerk with the tone I take on most of these articles, but it’s very hard not to be a cold hearted movie critic guy person when I have to tell you about so many sequels, remakes, re-imaginings, or manimatings. It’s just the state of the film industry these days that when a film does remarkably well in the box office, we eventually get more of the same until the law of diminishing returns proves them wrong. The latest case is Sinister 2.
The first Sinister was a welcome breath of fresh air in the horror genre. Ethan Hawke was great, it featured a spirit rarely used (Buhguul), and it managed tension pretty well. This first trailer for the sequel is the complete opposite of that. It’s like it’s “sinister” in name only. 2inister releases August 21st. That poster’s neat though. Here’s the synopsis:
The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie.
