Spoilers for people who haven’t read comics ever.
The tale of Gwen Stacy is a tragic one. Her father died heroically saving a young boy from certain death during a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus. The boy was fine, but George Stacy was crushed to death by the falling rubble. Not long after, Gwen met her own death, courtesy of physics. Thrown from the George Washington Bridge by the Green Goblin, the recoil of Spider-Man’s well-intended web-slinging snapped her neck. What does this mean for Emma Stone’s longevity in the Spider-Man reboot? I don’t know, but she sure looks good blond!
In the first set pictures of the reboot, we see a mourning Gwen at, presumably, the funeral of her father (Dennis Leary). Aside from the one picture with her big grin, it looks like Stone is quite distraught over the proceedings. Like any Emma Stone-related Spider-Man updates, this one has me ever more optimistic for the film. Check out the pictures in the gallrey!
