So I’m guessing I’ll be hitting up an unpopular opinion here, but this first trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight isn’t really getting me that excited. It’s probably the trailer itself and nothing to do with the film, but I’m not engaged yet. Our first look at it here doesn’t really give us any feeling for what we should expect nor does it lay out a convincing amount of tension. The dialog is, of course, awesome.
Now, given the fact that Tarantino is awesome (as evidenced by the dialog) and that his previous western outing was awesome there’s a very good chance this is just poor trailer making. It’s also just the teaser, but aren’t teasers supposed to tease? I’m hoping when we get a more full blown trailer it leaves me desperate to get my eyes on this film in 70mm.
The Hateful Eight will release on Christmas Day in select theaters and on January 6, 2016 wide.
