By I’m not sure what the reason is, but we’re suddenly getting a whole lot of Krampus films. There’s Kevin Smith’s Krampus project, a few direct to VOD films, that one episode of American Dad two seasons ago, and now we’ve got Krampus from Trick r’ Treat‘s Michael Dougherty. Maybe we’ve run out of monsters or something?
Either way, this trailer looks alright. It’s not particularly grabbing (as Adam Scott tries his best, but has never really been able to lead at this point), the cast is a bit confusing as I’m not sure whether or not it’s supposed to be a black comedy, and there’s nothing really unique here. The idea is interesting, but after years of holiday horrors, the generic stuff here doesn’t register. Then again, Trick r’ Treat turned out to be the best horror film in years so who knows really.
Krampus releases December 4th, just in time for Christmas.
