I’m normally not a fan of biopics as they’re usually hokey, but this first Red Band trailer for N.W.A.’s biopic Straight Outta Compton looks much better than other other ones out right now. It doesn’t seem cheesy like those TLC or Aaliyah films found of Lifetime, and I was so worried about that. There’s a better care put into this film with Ice Cube and Dre introducing the trailer with a brief scene (which is allegedly the scene being filmed when Suge Knight got into an argument and performed some aggressive acts) and Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr. playing his father’s younger self.
Produced by Ice Cube and Dre, directed by Set It Off/Friday (which are both good films) director, F. Gary Gray, and starring O’Shea Jackson Jr.(Ice Cube), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), Jason Mitchell (Easy-E), and Paul Giamatti.
Straight Outta Compton opens August 15th. I’m looking forward to it.
