Stephen Sommers’ film adaptation of Dean Koontz’s 2003 novel Odd Thomas is due to hit theaters next month, and, by the looks of this first trailer, it’s going to be a spooky ride. The film tells the story of young fry-cook Odd and his ability to communicate with the dead. When Odd’s macabre power plunges him into a battle of good vs. evil, he must fight alongside his girlfriend, Stormy (Addison Timlin), and a local sheriff (Willem Dafoe) to save the world from certain destruction.
Anton Yelchin is an American treasure as far as I’m concerned and Odd Thomas looks to be a fun adventure plot-wise. We’ll just have to wait and see how Sommers’ sometime’s goofy directing style (The Mummy, Van Helsing) handles the material.
Odd Thomas opens February 28th.
