Since becoming a dad I really can’t handle kids in dramatic movies anymore, and considering the trailer for Beautiful Boy makes the movie look like non-stop touching father/son moments I’ll basically be in a pool of tears for the entire film. I could barely hold them back watching the opening part of this trailer.
The movie is based on the popular memoirs by David and Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy and Tweak, which document a family’s struggle with addiction over the course of many years. It’s supposedly powerful stuff that gives a dual insight into the effects of addiction on an entire family.
Carell is easily one of the best actors working, and the way he can nail a scene through his performances has been clear since The Office. The guy is just beyond talented, and I’m excited to see his roles get more and more dramatic.
