I’m one that tends to try and go into a movie as blind as possible, most movies have become so predictable at this point that I want any nuance or twists to come to me in the theater when I’m witnessing it for the first time. That being said we need to know what the movie is about before we go to see it, and if you were to ask me what The Souvenir was about from that trailer, I’d be hard pressed to say.
My best guess is a first love between a man and a younger woman whom he takes advantage of? Regardless of what it’s about, The Souvenir won the grand jury prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, so it must do something amazing that the trailer isn’t showing.
Starring Honor Swinton Byrne, Tom Burke, and an almost unrecognizable Tilda Swinton, The Souvenir will receive a limited release on May 17th this year.
