The third film in the V/H/S series, V/H/S: Viral, has a first trailer that still looks like this series is gonna spook the bejeebus out of me. I’m not a fan of found footage (or horror in general), but I do love anthologies where each segment is handled by a different director. With the focus of these stories being “viral videos,” I’m expecting a new perspective on the series as well.
I can’t be the only one who’s legitimately scared by these movies, right? V/H/S: Viral doesn’t have a release date as of yet, with Magnet just announcing it will distribute it, so expect that soon. Here’s a nice synopsis, however:
Fame-obsessed teens hell-bent on capturing the next viral video discover they are the stars of the latest internet sensation. V/H/S VIRAL is the third and most intense installment in the groundbreaking horror franchise from the world’s top genre filmmakers. V/H/S: VIRAL’s segments include the story of a deranged illusionist who obtains a magical object of great power, a homemade machine that opens a door to a parallel world, teenage skaters that unwillingly become targets of a Mexican death cult ritual, and a sinister, shadowy organization that is tracking a serial killer. The segments are tied together by the story of a group of fame-obsessed teens following a violent car chase in LA that unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.
