I got a really in depth look at War for the Planet of the Apes at NYCC this year, but now it is everyone else’s chance to take a look. The first trailer has landed and it is crammed full of action and grumpy apes. That’s a bit antithetical to all the talk at NYCC, which focused on the character building and performances from Andy Serkis and the rest of the cast, but that stuff doesn’t usually sell movies.
From the trailer War looks to focus more heavily on the ape side of things than any movie previously, and the motion capture performances look even more stunning. At some point it’s going to become impossible to keep Andy Serkis from some sort of Academy Award, right?
