First trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse is blue

X-Men: Days of Future Past was one of the best surprises of last year. First Class was a bit rough, but Days took that foundation and built some good stuff on top of it. But while it managed a fine balance, it was a bit overstuffed thanks to the numerous characters who needed screen time. That’s pretty much my only worry going into the final film, X-Men: Apocalypse. 

We’ve got tons of characters, and this trailer is showing off everyone. I don’t really have any issues because I didn’t really absorb any of it. Everyone looks super cool, but it’s almost too much to care about at this point. There’s a lot of stuff going on: Oscar Isaac is a cool bad guy, Jennifer Lawrence is all “Hunger Games” style now, and there’s no Wolverine yet. 

I just hope the actual film itself doesn’t feel as stuffed as this trailer. X-Men: Apocalypse releases May 27th.
