This is a pretty wonderful edition of Flix for Short. Jim Henson was working on an animated short back in 1965 entitled Alexander the Grape. But sadly, it was never finished. That is, until a couple years ago when it was found in a vault at Jim Henson studios.
The lovely folks over at the studio pieced together what footage existed, along with storyboards and the soundtrack to complete the unfinished short. And boy is it great. Alexander the Grape has every classic halmark of a Jim Henson produced thing. Lovable characters, broad appeal across all ages, and hilariously off-beat humor. It’s also a nice look at what could have been. What if Henson focused more on animation instead of puppetry?
Actually, I don’t want to think about that.
