Nick Phelan’s Granny O’ Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short back in 2010 and it’s easy to see why. The short is creepy, kooky, mysterious, and even spooky within its short run time. And the Granny is perfect. She’s delightfully cynical and it brings a breath of fresh air to an admittedly old fairy tale. While her voice almost is a little “too” much at some points, the whole film is still delightful thanks to its differing styles of animation.
