Flix for Short: Jay Z’s “Picasso Baby” short film

Say what you will about Jay Z’s new album, Bible Quran Torah Dreidel Magna Carta Holy Grail (I know I’ve said plenty), but his newest music video (referred to as a “performance art film”) is built on a pretty neat idea. The ten minute video (minus two for credits) has Jay Z performing in front of a single individual rather than a crowd. These individuals include famous names like Wale, Taraji P. Henson, and Alan Cumming, and various types of performers, artists, and children. If you dig the song, then give it a watch. It’s put together very well (as it should since it’s directed Mark Romanek, who also directed Fiona Apple’s “Criminal”).
