Flix for Short: Symmetry

Flix for Short is Flixist’s way of showing off awesome short films we find around the web. Do you have a favorite short you saw? Why not tell us about it in our Cblogs? We’d love to see what short films you can make and find!

Do you listen to the NPR podcast Radiolab? Because you should. You definitely should. Radiolab is a radio show out of  New York Public Radio (WNYC) that talks about “science, philosophy, and human experience. Big questions are investigated, tinkered with, and encouraged to grow.” The most recent episode of Radiolab, titled Desperately Seeking Symmetry, inspired filmmakers Will Hoffman, Daniel Mercadante, and Julius Metoyer III, who are known collectively as Everynone, to create the above video. The video is all about, you guessed it – symmetry!

Symmetry is wonderful because it plays around with the idea of binary relationships and beautiful – though imperfect – matches. While researching this video, it was hard for me to choose which Everynone video to show because they have done a whole bunch that are really brilliant, such as WORDS, a hilarious re-working of WORDS called Re:WORDS, the absolutely precious Moments, and my personal favorite, Stoop Sitting. Everynone’s videos are elegant visual investigations into our world and I would highly recommend them.
