Flix for Short: The Four Players

0

Super Mario Bros. adaptations come along every so often on the web and usually they’re cute, but not much to talk about. The Four Players, four short films from screenwriter Evan Daugherty, on the other hand definitely deliver something interesting. Each film focuses on one of the main characters from the games. Mario and Luigi’s films are already available in the form of The Fixer and The Addict respectively, while Peach and Toad’s films will be released later in the form of The Star and The Soldier

The intriguing combination of real world grittiness with just enough fantasy and magic twisted in definitely lends an air of awesome, but it’s the trailer like quality that hints at an even bigger world that really makes them work. It’s not clear if there will be an ultimate short in which everything comes together, but considering that Super Mario World 3D lets you play with these four characters and that’s the big selling point wouldn’t it be amazing if Nintendo was actually behind this for some viral advertising?

As a side note this gives me a crap ton of hope for the new Ninja Turtles movie since Daughtery wrote the screenplay for that. That’s despite the fact that he also wrote the screenplay for the poorly plotted Snow White and the Huntsman
