For six years straight, vehicles designed and made by Enzo Ferrari dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A grueling race around an eight-and-a-half mile track with speeds reaching over 200 miles-per-hour, the race was initially created to test a manufacturer’s ability to build not just a fast car, but a reliable car. Pushing the boundaries of capabilities was the true achievement, and for a handful of years, Ferrari found the answer.
Until 1966 when visionary designer Carroll Shelby teamed up with Ford, and history was made. To take on the Italian speedster, the American team not only had to create a lighter and faster car, but they had to find the right guy to drive it. Enter the malevolent Ken Miles.
Ford v Ferrari details the events leading up to that historic race, with an home-run cast in Matt Damon, Christian Bale, and Jon Bernthal. The trailer plays to all aspects: extreme time constraints, hard-headed bullishness, and fast cars with eye-opening crashes. Plus, Matt Damon in a cowboy hat. Who doesn’t want that?
Ford v Ferrari hits theaters on November 15th.
