From the guys who brought you (i.e., wrote for you) Superbad, Pineapple Express, and this year’s The Green Hornet, comes a new project called Neighborhood Watch. That’s right! THR reports that friends and fellow screenwriters Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are set to make comedy magic once again. Neighborhood Watch will follow a group of suburban dads who form a neighborhood watch group, mainly as an excuse to hang out and bond. Naturally, something goes down that disturbs their relaxed tours and has them running around like maniacs trying to prevent disaster.
The film was originally pitched by studio exec John Fox and was, at one time, considered to be an appropriate Will Ferrell vehicle (there’s no such thing). Rogen and Goldberg were asked by 20th Century Fox to rewrite the original Jared Stern script after the project fell into limbo. Directors Shawn Levy (Date Night), Dave Dobkin (Wedding Crashers), and Pete Segal (50 First Dates) have all been attached to the project, but currently the film remains without a director. But with Rogen and Goldberg now attached to the film, Neighborhood Watch is almost certain to become a reality.
