In these new stills from Kevin Smith’s indie horror picture Red State, we finally get a decent look at the cast, including the aforementioned John Goodman on his mobile. We also get a look at some of the main teens looking shocked at something near their wrecked car. More importantly, we’ve got Michael Parks as Pastor Abin Cooper, the film’s murderous Fred Phelps stand-in.
My second year of college, I was in a student-developed musical chronicling the life of Fred Phelps as he first learned how and why he hates gays so much, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. As such, I love to see someone take the piss out of the Westborough Baptist nutjobs, so I’m really looking forward to this one, despite Smith’s less than lovely recent track record. Check out the images in the gallery or below the cut.
