By Gary ‘The Manhunkulous’ Oldman has been cast in the next Planet of the Apes movie, the sequel to the prequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Andy Serkis and other cast members are returning for some ape-tastic fun too. The film apparently follows events 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes and follows Caesar as tries to ‘maintain order and power’ just like the counterpart namesake Roman dictator. As a general ‘history boy’ that has my absolute attention. The sequel releases May 23 2014.
I’ll be honest. I was very surprised with Rise. So many ‘reboots’ nowadays just seem to fall flat but Rise worked quite well. Serkis, in my opinion, deserved some kind of Oscar nod for his performance. It was also a genuinely well written film and now that Oldman has joined the sequel I think only good can come of this.
