Gravity, Alfonso Cuarón’s upcoming sci-fi picture, has been in trouble on a constant basis. Actors and actresses drop in and out like party guests, and with the recent departure of Robert Downey Jr., who had been set to play the lead since the project began, things looked grim for the director of Children of Men.
Now, however, things are looking up! Warner Brothers has just locked in George Clooney to play the protagonist, a survivor of a failed space mission trying to make his way back home. He will star along with Sandra Bullock, and they are supposed to be basically the only two people in the movie. Sandra Bullock is playing a role meant for Angelina Jolie, further proof that Satan does exist, and his favorite thing to mess up is film casting.
All things considered, however, George Clooney is always an enjoyable actor, and, as one of three people that loved Stephen Soderbergh’s Solaris remake, I know Clooney can pull of a solitary performance like this.
