With last year’s Mortal Kombat 11 a massive financial success, and the upcoming live action film in the works as we breathe, Warner Bros Animation is tossing their blade-rimmed hat into the ring with Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, a feature-length animated film.
Scorpion’s Revenge looks to retell the ever-changing, time-bending story of the Mortal Kombat tournament, with hellspawn ninja Scorpion and his ever-present ire taking centerstage. Well, centerstage next to the blood and guts all of you sickos flock to Mortal Kombat for. Scorpion’s Revenge, as the trailer indicates, is going to be rated R for no shortage of flying limbs and viscera, one would imagine.
Featuring the likes of Joel McHale, Steve Blum, Jennifer Carpenter, and more familiar voices filling out the cast, Scorpion’s Revenge should be an entertaining romp for those die-hard MK fans looking to take a break between their virtual slugfests. Ethan Spaulding, perhaps best known for the DC animated film Batman: Assault on Arkham, will direct.
In other kapital-B Brutal news, the James Wan-produced film is still in production, having wrapped principal photography late last year. The live action film is slated for release on January 15, 2021. Meanwhile, Scorpion’s Revenge demands satisfaction much sooner, coming this Spring to home media platforms.
