Halloween Producer wants 10 sequels, but does not have rights...yet

Michael Myers is waiting on the paperwork

The confusingly titled Halloween of 2018 was one of the most successful horror movies of last year so naturally, the studio wants to make a sequel for it right away. I mean who doesn't love money right? I would personally love a sequel since I thought this soft reboot recaptured enough of the original's spirit that I want to see more. The only issue here is that Blumhouse, the company who produced the film, does not currently own the rights to produce a sequel. The lack of rights could stop the money train from moving forward. This news comes after they had already announced that there was a writer, Scott Teems, who is already in talks to write the sequel.

Jason Blum, head of Blumhouse, stated that "We had talked about it but right now we’re not shooting any Halloween movies right now because we don’t have deal rights to the sequels. But I certainly hope to make 10 more but I’ll start with one more." Chances are that Blumhouse will acquire the rights since both sides stand to benefit from the arrangement. I'm not sure if 10 movies are the answer since it took this long to make a good Halloween sequel (The original Halloween 2 and H20 are also good in my book).

If the director, David Gordon Green, returns along then I believe the franchise is in good hands. If Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak return as well then I would expect good things were inevitable for the sequel. I hope that this all gets sorted so we can all experience more fun from Michael.
