After “retiring” from scoring superhero films after his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice collaboration with Junkie XL, Hans Zimmer will be returning to the DC universe with Wonder Woman 1984. Expect plenty of electric cello to come.
Zimmer is best known for scoring Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, after which he scored Man of Steel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and is reportedly behind the score of the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Dude’s been around. Zimmer is replacing Rupert Gregson-Williams, who inherited Zimmer’s Wonder Woman theme from Batman v Superman for the first film.
Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in production, with only cryptic images and photos giving us hints of what the plot may be. The movie will release on November 1, 2019—but in the meanwhile, jam with us to Zimmer and Junkie XL’s Wonder Woman theme.
