There’s nothing the legendary Beatle can’t do. Sir Paul McCartney–besides producing decades worth of tremendous music–has worked on video games and movies, and penned children’s books like 2005’s High in the Clouds. And now that book is being made into a feature-length animated film over at Netflix.
The book follows Wirral the squirrel, whose home of Woodland is overrun by the intrusion of human developments. Banding together with other animals, Wirral embarks on an adventure for a new home. Wholesome stuff. Co-written by McCartney and Philip Ardagh, with illustrations by Geoff Dunbar, a film adaptation had been in talks since 2013.
McCartney will serve as a producer on the film, with Timothy Reckart directing a script by Jon Croker. Sir McCartney will also be contributing original music to the film, some of which may include track(s) in collaboration with Lady Gaga.
No date has been set for High in the Clouds, but with Netflix swooping in and the streaming giant’s recent string of successful animated projects we’ll likely be hearing much more in the months to come.
