Valve‘s much anticipated Portal 2 just came out, and it has a surprise movie tie-in! The game features an interactive, in other words – playable, trailer for the upcoming J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg movie Super 8. Apparently you can reach the trailer from the extras menu in the game. Also, by “playable” I really just mean you can move the camera through the space. You get to see a couple things that the filmmakers want to tip you on, but there’s really nothing too spoiler-y.
Do you like the idea of a playable trailer? Do you think that it’s a fad waiting to happen? Check out below the jump for some video of the interactive trailer and a few of my thoughts on the matter.
[Via ComingSoon]The whole idea of the movie tie-in being placed in a big selling video game is intriguing to me because it’s just another link that is seemingly trying to solidify the link between movies and video games in our minds. I guess that this is probably not the first time something like this has happened and stronger connections between movies and video games have probably been made, but the give-and-take relationship between these mediums is at the very least undeniable.
