Where has this Cameron Crowe been? We haven’t had a truly great movie about the man since Almost Famous, and that was a damn masterpiece, pretty much. Since then? Vanilla Sky, which I unabashedly love, despite it being a fairly crappy movie, and Elizabethtown. Also a couple of documentaries this year, but the man’s really been laying low for a while. This movie, a story of a father (Matt Damon) that somehow unwittingly buys a zoo and has to deal with that whole thing, looks to be a solid mix of melodrama and just a bit of comedy, the kind of thing Cameron Crowe perfected with Jerry Maguire. I’m quite looking forward to this one, so I hope it’s got the same quality as the trailers have so far.
