WHAT.
In an interview with the Huffington Post about his next movie, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, gorefest director Takashi Miike may announced that his next movie is about as far away from his usual ouvre as possible. When asked about his next film, he said, “‘there will be very “little blood’…’It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS[sic].'” There is only one possibility that ties into a court-based Nintendo DS game with light comedy, and that’s the Phoenix Wright series, or possibly the Apollo Justice spin-off. For those unfamiliar, the Phoenix Wright games put you in the shoes of a defense lawyer that really operates more like a lawyer/detective combo, combing crime scenes for evidence and presenting it in court with an iconic cry of “OBJECTION!”
This is about as odd a news story as I could bring you guys today. This isn’t exactly an “official” announcement, as it’s based off of an off the cuff remark during an unrelated interview, so we’ll have to see how this plays out. What do you guys think about a Phoenix Wright movie from the guy that brought us Ichii the Killer?
