While the 2013 Sundance Film Festival attendees will get a chance to see jOBS at its closing night screening, the general public will have to wait until it releases in theaters sometime in April 2013. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
Directed by Joshua Michael Stern who directed Swing Vote, and written by Matthew Whitely, the film will be covering Steve Jobs’ life from the early 1970s through 2000. Ashton Kutcher with other actors such as Josh Gad and Dermont Mulroney will be starring in the film. Yes the same Ashton Kutcher who starred in That ‘70s Show and hosted Punk’d back in 2003 is the actor chosen to portray Jobs.
I was intrigued when I first heard that they were making a biopic on Jobs, but then winced when I heard who was starring after pictures of Kutcher dressed like Jobs were released. After they released the promo art however, my opinion changed because Kutcher does look very similar to a young Steve Jobs. Hopefully his eerily similar looks will reflect well in his acting. We will have to see what the initial perception is after the Sundance Film Festival.
