No one can make Jack Ryan stick. While the character has had a slew of hit films none of them were really franchise launchers, but more just good stand alone movies. Well, Amazon is taking another crack at it, and Jack Ryan is once again recast as John Krasinski takes over the reins from Chris Pine in this new series, titled simply Jack Ryan. The first full trailer for the show is now out and gives us a fleshed out idea of the show’s plot, which doesn’t follow any of the books, but takes the character in a new direction.
If you’re sitting there wondering why they would cast Jim from The Office as Jack Ryan you haven’t been paying attention to Krasinski’s work since the show ended. The guy has nailed some dramatic and action-packed turns and basically made 13 Hours into something other than crap.
Amazon is pretty sure this is going to be a success and has already ordered a second season, which will begin filming before this even lands on their streaming service on September 3rd.
