James Cameron discusses Titanic 3D in primitive 2D

Last week we brought you the trailer for Titanic 3D. This week’s bounty from the cinematic ocean is a featurette in which James Cameron discusses his reason for bringing Titanic back to theaters. Apparently it’s not money but rather a chance for fans of the film to revisit characters that they loved, and to do so on the 100-year anniversary of the Titanic’s fateful voyage. (So, yeah, money really — money reeking of historic maritime disaster.)

Cameron does talk a little bit about 3D-converting a film not made for 3D as well as the restoration process of the film. He claims that the restored film looks better in 2D now than it did back in 1997. No word on if audiences will be able to watch the film in primitive caveman 2D when it’s back on the big screen.
