By James Franco and Anne Hathaway are the hosts of the 83rd Academy Awards to take place Sunday, February 27, 2011. This is kind of the definition of a call out of left field. It’s not exactly new news that Oscar hosts in the past decade or so have been on the ehh side. The last Oscars I remember enjoying was probably when Jon Stewart hosted, but I understand that’s not exactly a majority consensus.
Franco and Hathaway are both incredibly talented and attractive people, so at least the eye candy between awards won’t be god-awful. In addition, both are considered contenders for Oscar nods, Franco for Best Actor in
127 Hours
and Anne Hathaway in
Love and Other Drugs
. It would be the first time in Oscar history that a host has won on the same night that he or she hosts, so this should make things interesting!
