By Super director James Gunn confirmed today that he would be rewriting and directing Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel and Disney, having only just been “in talks.” Moreso than anything, this quote from Gunn confirms for me that he’s absolutely the correct guy to make this movie: “As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, AND raccoons, this is the movie I’ve been waiting to make since I was nine years old.” Seriously, you can’t get that kind of passion with a random hire off of the music video scene.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to arrive in August 2014 and will most likely do some serious setting up of big bad Thanos after his stinger appearance in The Avengers. If you’ll excuse me, I need to change my pants after reading this news. All I need is some official confirmation that Cosmo the Psychic Russian Space Dog will be in the movie, and I’ll be the happiest lad ever.
