According to a new report from Variety, sources have confirmed that Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim have signed on to join Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters. Both have been cast in undefined roles for the film. The two will join Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame), and Mckenna Grace.
While Sony wouldn’t clarify details to Variety, the publication reports that sources claim this new film will be an extension of the original Ghostbusters. Director Jason Reitman is the son of OG Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, so it’s likely he wishes to continue his father’s legacy with a proper sequel to the series. As for what is rumored to happen, the plot is set to focus on Coon’s character, who will be a single mother to her son, played by Wolfhard.
In a statement given to Variety, Reitman said, “Celeste and Logan are rare talents and we’re all grateful that they’ll be lending their unique voices to ‘GB20.'” If I’m not mistaken, that sounds like confirmation they’ll play some type of Slimer role. Maybe we’ll see the return of Stay Puft, which would be pretty awesome.
