First things first: Bloodsport is being remade. It’s being helmed by director Phillip Noyce (Clear and Present Danger, Salt) and already has a screenplay in the works.
Second things second: Jean Claude Van Damme is currently not appearing in the remake of the film that made him an action star. This has nothing to do with JCVD not wanting to be in the film, though. Speaking to Next Movie the muscles from Brussels said, “I want to be in the film as a trainer and I don’t think the writer wants [me] to … he knows that Bloodsport is a big film so he wants to get credit with all of that — you know what I’m saying?”
We know what you’re saying, JCVD. You’re saying the world just isn’t fair or else we’d see you return.
More evidence of this fact? Van Damme also says that he’s finished a screenplay for Double Impact 2 written and is just waiting for someone to pick it up. Van Damme describes the twin characters’s evolution like this: “Today, Chad would be like the guy in JCVD and Alex would be the guy like The Expendables.” Yea, that needs to happen.
