By Jessica Chastain is in talks to portray a villain in the next installment of the X-Men series. Not confirmed. Villain is perhaps Lilandra, the empress of an alien empire called the Shi’ar, but also not confirmed.
What is confirmed, and what is the real news here, no offense to the talented Ms. Chastain, is that they’ve managed to bring all the principals back to the series including Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Sophie Turner. Everyone else seems to be back onboard too, from new Cyclops (whom hopefully won’t get killed off in the first three minutes of this latest Dark Phoenix tale), to new Storm, and new Nightcrawler–all who made good turns in X-Men: Apocalypse. Lawrence, McAvoy, Hoult, and Fassbenders multi-film contracts had expired with Apocalypse and previously there was some doubt as to whether or not they would return. It seems the X-Universe is solidly in tact (minus Hugh Jackman) for at least one more film.
